engineeringtools.org by default collects some extremely limited user data in order to help us make better tools and make existing tools more useful.

The data we collect is only used for these internal purposes.

The data we collect is:

  • tool ID (this helps us understand which tools are often used, and which ones are not)
  • FEMAP version (this helps us understand our user base for when we create new or update code for compatibility)
  • How much RAM (this also helps us understand our user base)
  • an anonymized hashed unique ID for your setup (this helps us understand how many unique users we have)
  • model complexity - based on quantity of entities in the model (IE, nodes). This helps us understand our user base and allows us to focus time on tools that will be useful.

Opting out is simple - you just need to update the line in your ini file (EngineeringTools.ini) have global opt out = yes.
